Grouting around sockets

Hi all,

A mental block about what "should" be done.

Kitchen tiled and gone behind all the electrical sockets etc., a nice flat finish with no noticeable gaps from socket plates to tiles.

Have still got to grout, my question is should I also grout around the sockets?

I was thinking it may be good practice due to it being a kitchen/wet area.

No, grout isn’t water proof and will look strange and will break up as it can’t cling to a smooth plastic surface for long.

Thanks, so what do tilers do?
The sockets and switches are neat with a very flush finish all around with no gap as such.

Remove the socket screws so you can grout behind the faceplate.

Thanks although not sure why I would want to do that. There are no joins in the tiles meeting / up to the faceplates.

The tiles are quite large and the sockets just a cut out. My question relates to around the faceplates as they meet the tiles.

There are grout lines elsewhere but as the tiles were large, the sockets were calculated so to be central in tiles, so just a hole cut out of the tiles.

Ok, I didn't realise the cutouts were in the middle of a larger tile. Leave them alone then.

Thanks. I wasn't too sure and felt I should be doing something with them, then saw a TV programme and the tiler (albeit white tiles) grouted around the faceplates. The job looked good and all properly spaced/aligned etc...so it got me thinking if around the sockets/faceplates I should be doing like him and "sealing" (in know it doesn't) all around them with grout.
