Hi, can the experienced plumbers on here tell me whether this is a 1.5inch or 2inch siphon? The toilet isn't flushing as the diaphragm has gone sadly it's on a siphon I can't get out without taking the cistern off.

You need to measure the part that goes through the cistern, from the underside. A fluidmaster usually fits both sizes with a rubber adapter.

Thanks I was going to go with the traditional style siphon. Should it fit the toilet would be from the 80s at a guess.

Worth replacing the syphon with a Dudley Turbo 88 - then next time you can change the diaphragm without removing the cistern.

Thanks does the height need to be taken in to consideration? Or are they all the same.

Not all the same height. Sounds like all you need to do is fit a new diaphragm into the existing siphon.

I would do as I suggested earlier. If you are stripping the whole thing apart then fit a new syphon. The new ones will fit your cistern and are a better flush anyway.

If you are referring to the link you posted ,that's not a siphon ,nor do they give a better flush ,and they are far less reliable than a traditional siphon ,and don't last anywhere near as long.

Correct, it isn't a siphon, or the correct spelling syphon. My mistake. The rest is your opinion as was mine and I stand by it.
