Hi all,

My alarm is old and out of date, just for now, I want to disconnect the alarm system completely.

About 35yrs old!, started with wired with viper sensors but then changed to wireless sensor about 15 yrs ago because the alarm company mentioned then the wiring is too old to upgrade. They changed it by using wireless system. However I want to disconnect the whole system, I have 2 external bell box, one high up out of reach and a lower one at ground level assuming this is a not a bell ringer(?) or not sure if it got battery built in. wireless sensor on all windows. Do I just take out the fuse from the FCU to the panel box and battery out of the panel box and I'm assuming the bell box won't ring or go off as I don't remember the battery ever been change for year and guessing the battery could well be flat now. I also have to smaller ringer box internal (not sure if they have battery also?) I also have 4 smoke alarm connected to the alarm system.

Depends on what you have I guess.

Can I ask why you wish to disable the alarm?
If the bells are still hard wired then disconnecting the power to the systems may initiate the bellbox, depending on the bellbox it may or may not ring and the duration on most modern bells should stop after 15 minutes, but dont know what you have so can not comment on how I would expect it to function.

Thanks secureiam, I've stopped using the alarm as it kept going off intermittent, also the smoke alarm as well, getting fed up with it specically with the neighbours putting up with it. Possibility a damaged wire somewhere.

The 35yrs old wiring still got the old BT wires type 8 cores? Was told will need to be upgrade to cat5/6 cable with the latest technology. Having building work done and new windows so ideally disable the alarm and start fresh. My late mother and uncle suffered from dementia and kept forgetting the code number which they couldn't turn the alarm off.

I just feel people round here don't take any notice of any alarm ringing , as I'm getting older, I feel the best way is good quality locks with cctv which detects anyone coming near the property which alert my phone including smoke alarm is the safest way for me in the future.
