Ceiling paint peeling

Hi all

Recently had my ceiling in back bedroom overboarded and skimmed.

I did 2 mist coats of diluted emulsion, then an undiluted coat.

Bought some valspar v500 from b and q as I wanted a sky blue ceiling. However, the first coat of this started to peel and crack very slightly in a few spots. It didn't do it everywhere, just certain parts, and only small cracks, but obviously this is not good.

So now I'm left with a blue ceiling with some parts cracked, and white emulsion showing through if I peel it off. I know now I should have used a primer, but how can I sort this problem?

Many thanks

Valspar is not the good paint it was 50 years ago.

There are a lot of bad reviews on line regarding Valspar emulsion peeling off - too many - which suggests it's very poor quality paint, and maybe you should go for another make such as Dulux.

The problem you may face is painting over the blue paint - it is very possible by painting over this, it may loosen the blue paint further.

You could try dampening a small area in a corner with water, leave it a while, and see if any more comes off.

Was the white silk or matt emulsion?

Is the blue silk or matt emulsion?

Both matt

The problem i have is that small areas are flaking off - i have read that i should peel off the offending area, sand, fill, prime, then repaint

Other than sounding like a massive faff, is this the best solution? I don't think I can just paint over flaking paint...

Thanks for the help
