Connecting from an existing Ceiling light is acceptable if cables are run in safe zones to the new Wall Light(s)

1606394098832114546945421667879.jpg Safe zones ? ( do you mean following the existing wiring layout) sorry just found the post on safe zones I've done a lot of wiring but never wall lights from scratch.plus the actual wall lights have 3 black wires and a white one besides the earth wire.

Safe zones as in hidden wiring vertically or horizontally aligned with surface appliances or in a few other permitted areas. Cable colours- serves you right for buying cheap tat off t'interweb.
Do remember that any new concealed wiring must be protected by an RCD.

That appears to be an item for the American market where the Live wire is Black and the Neutral wire is white.
It it is an American item then it would be rated at 120 Volts and may not be suitable for UK supplies which are 240 Volt

One Black ( Live ) goes to the lamp with the White. The other two Blacks appear to be from a Switch.

To use the Switch connect BLUE from wall to White in lamp ( Neutral ), Connect Brown from wall to one of the Blacks from the switch. Connect the other Black from the switch to the Black going to the lamp.

If the switch is not being used then connect Brown from the wall to the Black going to the lamp. Ignore the two Blacks from the switch

Cheers for the replys guys on the lamp itself it does say AC85-240V also Thank you for the wiring description most helpfull.
I've also looked at the thread explaining the safe zones also if I take the wiring from an existing light fitting under the floorboards wouldn't that auto be protected by an RCD.

So does this apply if your lifting the floorboards? Bernardgreen with wiring the switch if you want to use the switch as I am getting a little lost with that.

Depends if the lighting circuit you are tapping into is protected by an RCD. Pic of the CU would be useful.
EDIT if you want to use the built- in switch (2 black wires) connect it between live and the black going to the lampholder. Neutral goes to white as @bernardgreen 's accurate description.

Ok cheers am thinking if I dropped the ceiling and put down lights in (I've done a few times)would it be easier and if so how would I connect the switch on the wall light to turn on..off.or am I being a bit stupid and not seeing what's in front of me?

For someone who's "done a lot of wiring" you seem worryingly unaware of some basics.
If you're wanting to switch a load of downlights from that switch in the wall light you could come unstuck, that switch will be rated for whatever the max power lamp the fitting is designed for (60w maybe)

No..I know the basics..I've dropped ceilings and installed down lights.I am asking if I decide to drop the ceiling how
and can I connect the on.off on the wall light to the wiring .hence three blacks one white and earth
