Hi All
Read that hik was the best. Looking for Max 4 cameras. Digital storage.
power over ip
Therefore what cat cable is the best? What spec?
Also, 4K cameras necessary?
Not sure of my mates, but it’s hard to make out his car let alone a face
What do you recommend?

I install all HIK and for the money its very good kit.
We are currently installing a lot of NVRS with colorvu cameras(5MP) and I can say the picture quality is excellent.
I would advise choosing the right camera lense for the suitable area and don't fit under the top floor soffit as you will only be able to see the tops of peoples head.
Standard Cat5E cable.

Thanks
Might need more advice nearer the time.
With such a camera, what size hd would I need for 14 day storage per camera

HDD size will depend on how busy the scene is and how settings selected and compression and frame rate there are lot of variables.

I have (or had as i've moved recently and have to refit them here) but i've got my Hikvision 4 MP cameras going to a POE switch to power them and then to a NAS - I went a bit over the top as i'm using it as a backup for photos and files as well and raided as well, this one is a 4 bay NAS and 16 TB in it. The CCTV had access to I think about 4TB but as they say it depends whats happening and how the cameras are set.

I had some crap CCTV system namely the brand you see around initially it was rubbish so got it back to them - no point if you cant see anything or anyone - defeats the object.

Oh CAT 6 cable is ok yes - infrastructure stuff on a role is stiffer which you will have to terminate as well.

It depends but about 25 quid crimping tool.
Then the crimps for both ends
or you can put one end into a socket they do them up to 4 (double socket size) then use a patch lead from there into the switch /POE injector.
