Annoying bath waste

Put in a new freestanding bath wifey decided on.

The plug is a "push" thing with built in waste.

Every time I have a bath I sit on the plug, which depresses and drains water.

The waste overflow is a horizontal bar, rather than a round one

Lile the pic below (which is a random exanplez not my bathroom)

Can anyone suggest / provide a link for better waste, that will fit, that doesn't depress each time you have a bath... I can only find wastes with round overflows

I had a look and reckon I can keep the overflows as is.

So I guess my revised question is:

Can anyone recommend a bath waste that wont depress when you sit on it?

I dont have enough exposure to them to know what to look/ask for. The one I have protrudes up, domed, like mushroom, so really easy to sit on / depress.

Is there a bath waste that sits flush so you need to push it down with fingers?

Apparently a traditional plug on a chain is not acceptable

Before I order, bit of advice if anyone can offer?

So I need a slotted waste. There are 2 of that style available.

I hope that the connections are all standard, as the rectange overflow on the bath is attached / inaccessible, however, the overflow pipe connects to the existing waste is.

Will either of these be suitable, or, preferable? Will the first just be a direct swap/standard thread?

Dont want to buy one, dismantle the bath and find it wont fit!

This Click Clack Bath Waste with Overflow - BWC02 at Victorian Plumbing UK is the one you want. Slotted wastes are for baths etc with an integral overflow, so assuming yours has a flexible plastic pipe from overflow to the waste?

If so, you should be able to connect your existing overflow to the new waste, using your existing pipe, check before buying.

Show us a pic of your actual bath. If you do not have access to beneath the bath you can't change the waste.
Your overflow and waste may be a combined unit ,and not interchangeable.

Apologies - I am going senile. Just lifted the bath and there's not a waste pipe. Its a combined unit.

I unscrewed the thingy and it looks slotted like the second one

So i reckon the second one? Or am I stuck with this mushroom?

Not come across any baths that need a slotted waste! They all go via a ribbed hose into the bath trap IME!

Tomorrow Ill lift bath again and take pics.
Nine of the above is visible - all sealed behind a fiberglass shell.
Looks like I can just unscrew the waste and put a new one it. The existing one is slotted, you can just tell from the photos.
