Gurgling shower when toilet flushed and no roof vent for stack

Weirdly today, it seems to have stopped blowing after about midday and the toilets seem to be draining better so I wonder if there was a blockage that's now been pushed through and out?

Not unheard of, if it's a 'soft' blockage, i.e. a plug of tissue and waste, then sometimes the head of water behind it can slowly move it to a point where it will start to disperse and wash away. I'd keep an eye on matters though, any sign of WC's not flushing, or traps gurgling, investigate sooner rather than later. May still be an underlying cause if it recurs.

If soil pipe can be extended through the roof, then great, AAV's have their uses, but drains need to breathe.

As usual - your instincts were right! Thought I’d lift the inspection cover today just to check it was all ok and it was absolutely full to overflowing.

So called dyno-rod who tossed and cleaned system and found a big 3” block or cement stuck in the pipe. All sorted now but thanks for your advice as always.

The unblocking was free as part of my BG homecare agreement. He said pipes needed cleaning too (and showed me on the camera) which wasn’t covered on policy so I said go ahead and I’ll pay what’s needed. But he said he’d do it for a beer as it was his last job before weekend and not to worry about it!

I requested job at 4pm through BG and he was here by 5. Pretty chuffed with that service, nice chap and only one beer lighter for the job!
