Shower switch short cable

Of course, there is a chance the wires are burnt and need shortening.
I hope that isn't the case, if they are any shorter, it will be like doing vascular surgery with pliers!

It sounds like I need to get the switch and box off, labelling up the wires as I go, and see what my options actually are with proper access to the cable and hole.

If the cables are too short, and you decide to move the switch, you could consider cutting a recessed box into the ceiling, to allow your hand in to the ceiling void.

However, it would then be best to ensure that a metal flush box can be screwed directly to the side of a nearby joist - as I don't think a plastic dryline box would take the strain of a shower pull switch being tugged.
