Pea souper & ice.

I drove over the M62 the other day, in daylight, and there was thick fog on the top; visibility was minimal. Most drivers reacted sensibly, slowing right down and putting their fog lights on. A few morons passed at 70mph and upwards with no lights on at all. Guess what make of car these were driving?

The Pea Soupers were prevalent in industrial areas and were smog, a mixture of smoke and fog.
The worst of these events lasted several days in London in December 1952.

Londoners used to call them "a regular pea souper" often followed by "and no mistake".

Most Londoners don't speak English now!

Was in the churchyard behind the house last night with the cat and quite impressed how fast the fog rolled in. Quite atmospheric until I remembered 'the fog' movie and how it frightened me the first time I saw it :)
I take it the cats on the mend now sod? I thought about your cat about 4.00 this morning and meant to ask after it as soon as I got up.

No, this was the night before, the fog.

Heard from the hospital, she's got kidney damage due to the overdose and also isn't eating (hasn't eaten since 10pm, Thur night). They're going to sedate her from tomorrow with a feeding tube. It's not looking good.

What's frustrating is that they won't let me there. She has a pure fear of strangers and strange things and trusts nobody except myself (even that's touch and go). If they'd let me in to sit with her, I bet I could get her to eat and avoid all this. Knowing my cat like I do, I think she will give up.

Every time I see that film, I still get the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Very eerie.

Sorry to hear your cat is unwell. Been through it so many times with ours, hope they can get her fit again. You should have some kind of access. Our vet's is like Fort Knox at the moment. Vet comes out to the car to collect cat in basket. Then brings him out again after examination/jabs, etc. Then nurse brings out the all important card reader for payment. Bizarre!

My mum has just come out of hospital after a month - partial hip replacent. Should have only been a week but caught Kung Flu in there after a few days. So much for their infection control! Moved her to a Covid ward after testing positive. As you're finding, it was agony for us not being allowed in to see her for weeks. Felt very cruel, but obviously had to be this way in her case.

Fingers and everything else crossed for the pair of you. Some vets are like that - a friends vet has similar ways. Our one allows one masked person per pet although they took her off of me last week and took her out the back of the consultation room to inspect her ears.
