Hi just fitting out a new utility room.
All worktops abs units fit and put in the drawers and doors and the end panels overlap them by about 15-18mm. See pic.
Is this normal or should they always be flush with the doors and drawers?
Cheers.

Personally I'd leave the overlap, as the end panel then offers the drawer/front some protection from knocks and scrapes.

End panels are oversized to allow for uneven gaps at the back of the base units and to allow scribing against walls. I normally finish end panels flush with the finished position of adjacent doors. There are no rules though so go with whatever you like the look of.

How you fit the end panel may be dictated to a certain extent by the design of the cornice /pelmet if one is fitted.

Hi new to the forums and couldn't work out how to start a thread and I figured this probably the most similar topic.

I've got a breakfast bar back panel that needs fitting to the rear of the cabs that make up the bar area. The panel will meet the wall and floor. The wall and floor are both uneven (floor has a slight dip in it) so I figured that both sides need scribing to fit.

At first I thought I would scribe the floor in first to remove the excess height on the panel and make it flush with the tops of the cabinets and to accommodate the uneven floor on the bottom. My plan then was to scribe the side of the panel to remove the excess width to bring the panel flush with the end of the breakfast bar and to accommodate the uneven wall. However it's dawned on me that when I cut the scribe for the wall, this will shift my material into the wall therefore making my floor scribe shift out of place.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get this piece scribed in for the floor and wall? Someone suggested doing a template but I feel I missing a trick here. Should I scribe the floor and wall using minimal material removal, and then take the excess of the top and other side of the material to line up with the top of the cabs and breakfast bar respectively?

Hopefully someone can help me and appreciate any respones for my first ever forum post

I'd fit the panels after the flooring if you can, and usually the floor gets leveled before kitchen flooring so this may not be an issue in practice.
If you're fitting before flooring, you have some leeway as the flooring would cover small gaps. Eg floor tiles plus adhesive can easily be 15mm, so the gap along the floor isn't too critical, albeit make it as good as you can.
