Plug socket in ceiling space?

is the ceiling box a plasterboard patress mount?
(with power off) I'd be tempted to remove the box and rattle the cable to see if it is easy to see where it's from.
Knowing my luck, the cable would go through a joist but you could be lucky

You could terminate the wires in a Hager 32 amp maintenance free junction - it's a complete unit, in case you struggle getting 3 individual Wago connectors as opposed to buying a box of them.

Let's be clear. As this is just to terminate the wires safely so they can't be touched, and NOT to ensure a continuous circuit to something then ANY connection box is perfectly adequate. Maintenance-free just doesn't come into it.
Of course disconnecting the entire run is better - but going on about maintenance-free connectors - now we know the circuit doesn't carry on - is pointless.

Thanks for everyone’s advice on this. TLC direct let you buy the wago connectors in packs of 10. Good to go. I am going to leave in ceiling space, label them up as live and if I ever change the carpet above I will have a look then to see if I can see where they spur off from.
