What ho one and all,

I have spent the last X amount of time, cleaning the kitchen extractor filter and surrounding area. As usual, it is easier said than done, however, it is considerably cleaner.

But the plastic casing that surrounds and mounts the motor is quite greasy and I have no idea how to clean it as it is somewhat inaccessible.

Is it normal practice to remove the motor entirely, or does one just usually say, 'Can't get access, leave it alone!'

Seems to be rather pointless to clean everywhere but leave the motor with a layer of grease.

Toodle pip and thanks

The vents on the sides of the fan are often removable & can be washed in a dish of soapy water, if the motor & impeller are coated then it would be easier to remove it & clean with a degreasing agent. If it is only lightly coated it probably will not affect the fan operation, but heavy contamination will slow the motor & shorten it's life.

Thanks. I attempt to clean things regularly and my wife does not do frying, so the fan is not heavily coated with layers of grease.

Will look at removing it and see what I can clean. Why are they made so it is a major job to clean? Or maybe the plan is, replace rather then maintainer?
