Hi, can someone advise me please?

I am having building work done, and need to disable or remove a PIR for a period.

I thought I could enter eng mode and remove the pir to a different location but the code doesnt seem to work (no lights flash). I tried to remove the cover but the tamper switch set off the bell, so two questions

1, can I just enter the alarm set code to silence the alarm while i remove the pir and reinstall ?
Or
2 can I just put tape over the sensor to stop it detecting movement whilst renovations are going on?

at the moment wandering foxes are setting it off during. The night.

any advice as always appreciated.

thanks in advance

Hi, 0 enter 7890. Nothing happens. I expected all leds to flash but nothing.

That keypad is for a Scantronic 9448
If a company installed it , the engineering code will not be default code.
Just tape over the detector or link it out in control panel.
need picture of control panel wiring and zone number to tell you how to link out detector

Tnx. It was installed but years ago. Im sure i used the code once to swop out the PIRs.

ill tape over it for now and likely replace the whole system in the new year.

cheers

Hi guys
Well building work completed.
System passes walk test, for all PIRS and also bell and siren.
When armed though if I access EE door to set off , the internal bell sounds but not the external siren.
Anyone have an idea why it should do that ?
And any suggestions on panel replacement using the existing pirs and wiring ?

If you set off the alarm by the E/E and the time runs out …it will go off internally for 30s before the external bell rings

Sparkymarka,

thanks, Yes I am aware there is a 30 sec lag between entry and alarm to allow getting to the panel and disarming. What I'm saying is that I open the door and wait, because I want to check the siren will go off. But it doesnt sound at all. Just the inside bell, and i left it for over 3 mins. still no external siren.

What I cant figure out is why the siren sounds during a walk test, but not when armed and activated.

Have you set the alarm and triggered another device like lounge sensor ?
Does external bell sound then ?

Handymanjo

I just tried that, and hey presto the siren sounded - however I did it a second time and it did not sound outside, even when i triggered all zones one at a time. The panel lit up the zones as they were triggered so I know the PIRs are detecting movement. Same for a third and 4th attempt. On the fifth attempt I armed the system, and stood outside of detection zone. Had EE opened and closed, and waited for the 30 sec delay to silence the panel. Then moved into zone detection and Siren went off outside. It just doesn't seem to be consistent.

No your not understanding …. If you activate an E/E zone there is “ an extra 30 secs AFTER the entry timer has run out ( depending on what that is set to ) this has nothing to do with the entry exit time

Does the strobe work when you trigger the alarm ?
Can you post photo for your bell box. Not tonight during day light.

sparkymarka - I was not aware - however, I have walked in the EE door, and waited for a couple of minutes whilst the keypad beeped, and whilst the internal bell set off the external siren didnt. Ill do some more tests tmw as it seems to sound under some circumstances.

Handymanjo - I'll look and see if it the strobe works even if the siren doesnt in daylight. Its a tad late now to annoy the neighbours.

meanwhile thanks guys
