Hi just writing out a shopping list and getting completely stuck at this, I would like to use the Texecom app on my phone to receive notifications would I ned the smart on module or a gsm module for sending text messages. Could someone explain in plain English what the different modules do ?
Thanks

The Smartcom will send notification alerts (not text messages) and/or emails to a smart phone and allow use of the Texecom Connect app to arm and disarm the system etc. It requires a working broadband connection so fails when the broadband router goes off during a power cut. It is currently free to use.

The GSM module will send text messages to a smart phone and allow remote arming/disarming if the user sends text messages to the alarm system. It will continue to work during power cuts as it uses a 2G sim card (not 3G, 4G or 5G) to connect to the mobile network. It doesn't work with the Texecom Connect app. If you use a PAYG sim you pay for every text message that it sends out.

You can install both if you wish.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a new SmartCom with GSM backup built in on the horizon or have I dreamt this up :) I currently use smartcom and it has it's downsides of no backup if the internet/power cuts out

CEL0007 not available yet and as far as I am aware the 4G enabled smart com is for GPRS coms / use of Texecom Connect App rather than SMS.

although awaiting confirmation of full functionality
