Hi, hope someone can help and stop me worrying that my roof is going to collapse!

Moved into property over a year ago, have found that the sandstone brick that is supporting the main beam running through the centre of the roof is showing some signs of weathering. Believe this is from a previous problem we had from the chimney and condensation within the loft.

From the photo planning to add some cement in the summer once the roof has dried out. Will this be sufficient??

thanks for all your help in advance!

Ross

'fraid you won't get any meaningful response from those pics; you need to show the support from much further back to show the context.

Thanks for your feedback!!

You appear to have a large ridge beam.
If the support is the red sandstone you commonly see down the west of the country, eg Lancs/Chesire/Shropshire/Herefordshire it can be quite friable, particularly when permanently wet.
As long as the damp problem has been cured, it shouldn't get any worse. If needs be, you could replace the top block with a couple of courses of engineering brick. Just slapping on more cement would be a waste of time.
