Hi
Merry xmas
Anyone else had this problem on there vw passat.
It is a 52 plate 1.9 tdi 130.
Does this problem affect all vw audi ect?
Not a good safety feature if it does.
Thanks
tincup.

It happens on all makes but if you can't unlock with the internal door handle then either there's a snapped cable or the lock itself is faulty. Can you hear anything happening at the lock when you operate the central locking?
John :)

no noise at all.
internal door handle raises the knob but it drops back down without unlocking.
would disconnecting the battery release it?
Thanks for reply

Easy enough to access with the door card off......but if the door won't open then it's much more difficult
John :)

If it's the same system as the SEAT Leon, there is a simple fix.
That's a much more modern car.
Passat b5.5 have afull internal metal cart which is much more difficult to access.
Op, go on the ukpassat forum and find the info you need.
Sounds like a problem with the lock mechanism which could be related to the well known "water ingress" passat problem.
You'll find all info on same forum.
Just fixed mine.

Or simply a dodgy cable.
Need to open the cart and check.
Search youtube, plenty of videos on how to do it, including how to open the door.

Intermittent fault.....:(
Consider the cables running from the bodyshell to the door - repeated flexing does them little good.
John :)

Opened once yesterday then stopped again.
Thanks for every ones help.
Do you wanna fix it?
Wanna do it yourself?
Have you got time and tools?
If so, I can help as I have the same car and fixed door parts many times.
Just the other day i changed the window regulator on passenger front.
