Very specific question here for folks who have owned / installed a Samsung EHS Monobloc heat pump. I'm looking to buy one myself in a month or two, but am scoping out possibilities of monitoring this appliance locally using a self-hosted platform (home assistant, for the curious). I am aware that Samsung sells a WiFi module (MIM-H04EN) which interconnects with the MIM-E03CN control unit. The trouble with this device is that it forces the user to upload data to a Samsung cloud server and then access that data using a proprietary Samsung smarthome gateway. No thanks, Samsung, not least because this product is known to be insecure (https://www.techhive.com/article/30...y-lets-hackers-make-their-own-house-keys.html).

So I'm wondering if there is a serial interface on this PCB. It stands to reason that Samsung would have some pins devoted to this so that Engineers could inspect faults. From pictures I've inspected, there certainly seem to be several candidates. If there *is* a serial interface, I can use rs-232 and very easily broadcast that appliance sensor data over wifi using a diy device (Esp32 chips are £5 - example here: https://atadiat.com/en/e-esp8266-esp32-wifi-serial-bridge-converter/).

Can anyone confirm if there is a serial if, and if so, which pins? If I can confirm this, will cinch the purchase decision.

You need to speak to freedom heat pumps, they would know the answer.
