Hidden Kitchen Junction Box

We're in the process of renovating our kitchen. We've removed the existing tiles, and in the splashback area above the hob we found a small mdf patch hiding a junction box.

I'll let the pictures do the talking but wanted advice on whats best to do. It doesn't power the hob, oven or extractor fan so I'm not really sure where it leads. It is live.

I've done a crude diagram of the other wiring for the sockets and extractor.

It would normally (or once did) power a cooker

Would have had something like this on the front once upon a time

Double check its not the oven/hob suppy

As above -

and it is unlikely the Cooker Switch and the other Socket are on the same circuit as you have drawn.

Ok yeah makes sense. Would you cover it back up and pretend you never saw it?

There isn't any spur, just seems to be a join in the ring? Except for the 3rd earth that trails off the top?

Both oven and hob are connected to the cooker switch on the right hand side.

You obviously have means to test it was live, find the circuit breaker, switch that off and then check what else if any has gone off

The cable out of the bottom is probably a feed to your existing cooker switch, and as others have said your drawing is probably incorrect.

Exactky as Sparxx says, I would imagine the cable was jointed, to extend the cable to the new cooker switch position.

If you were to pull the oven out, you may see more evidence of this.
