Do you need to plug in the plug to get hot water to your taps ?

How do you pay the bill for this, normally the unit would have a meter incorporated on the landlords heating pipes, this will need power.

Is there an actual model number on the unit ?

We get hot water on demand even if the heat exchanger isnt plugged in . We send the reading from the meter on the front of the unit quarterly

Reading about the energy meter it would seem like your gas meter and electric meter you can't touch it. It is the property of the energy provider.

I see no reason why Hive can't control a motorised valve, and so the heating, however how you would install a motorised valve is not so clear, maybe you can turn off an isolator or freeze the supply, but simply don't know.

If you have TRV heads on the radiators, then I would think that would be easiest and best method to control heating.
