We are looking to change our Triton electric shower because it is very noisy indeed. We have virtually never used it because it is so exceptionally noisy. It was installed by a qualified plumber and had a qualified electrician to do the electrics. We had to remove and replace some of the tiles and cut off the hot water supply. We are in mansion flats and installed it because the run of the hot water is very slow (to get hot). We hope to replace it with another electric shower as the water supply now is only cold water (as required for electric showers).
Are there any electric showers that are actually sold as being ''quiet'' that may just replace this one - some thing fairly powerful? Many thanks for any replies.

Electric showers are silent. They are just a heating element in a box.

The only type which make noise are those which accept both hot and cold water and contain a pump to increase the pressure.

Flameport thanks. Really? We have the Triton T90xr - which is old by now but not used. It only has cold water supply. It is supposed to be an electric shower. It was and is very noisy.

Madrab and endecotp - thanks for your enquiries - it is a Triton T90xr - why is it so noisy then?

The T90 XR is pumped to improve performance where mains pressure is low. Being in a flat, you may have supplies that are lower than you may get in a house.

You have what called a pumped electric shower. Therefore it has a small pump in it that boosts the cold flow, that's why it's noisy.

As an aside, this shower will be connected to a cold water supply that's fed from a tank and not the mains water. Therefore you can only replace it with the same or get a new mains supply run and use a conventional electric shower.

I have just looked at Trust Pilot Reviews for Triton and 70% of them out of 212 are just * one star reviews out of 5! They say on Trust Pilot the Triton warrantees are worthless and the showers are bad! I did not know that till now!

Madrab - as I said above - we are in flats - mansion flats - so cold water is coming off the building's cold water tank.

People on Trust Pilot saying don't buy Triton - that they are expensive (they are expensive) and no come back with problems. I want to install another electric shower of another make that is quiet. if anyone knows one?

Any shower you use for your set up needs a pump and they are all noisy

If a pumped electric shower was fitted previously, there is obviously a reason for it!
With your water supply, your options are limited.

You may be able to get a shower that has a separate pump, located elsewhere, such as an aqualisa quartz digital but that requires certain conditions which I don't know if you have!

It looks like your options are Triton or Mira and they both have their fans and critics!

Ask your neighbours in the building what they have. If they have a non-pumped electric shower and the pressure is OK, you could probably do the same.
