bottle trap won't seal

I agree too. Had bath traps that almost tighten, then the thread gives on the last turn.

hi guys got a replacement from b&q this morning & it is leaking , i took a photo & noticed it looked on the wrong threads ,was going to take out basin then fit to make sure it was a good seal ,but now after your comments will go & buy the one you all seem to recommend
will let you know how i get on

How did you get on with the bath waste?[/quote

with the bath waste i did not want to use silicone inside popup cable box in case i seized up the popup , so i put some plumbers mate in it seems to be okay now but to be honest it was about a spoonful of water draining a full bath ,
fingers crossed thanks for asking

quick update bought a mc alpine bottle trap from builders merchants
they do seem to have a better washer & longer neck
fitted it today no leaks
cheers all

So just in case anyone gets here as I did with this problem (especially the symptom of "thread gives on the last turn") - turns out the pop-up "click-clack" style waste I had from Victoria Plum was 1.25" UK whilst the B&Q/Screwfix telescopic bottle-trap is EU 32mm - I assumed that the 1.25" UK was an approximation but no UK is then about 31.75mm - close but no cigar. Got a UK to EU 32mm convertor from Screwfix (£1.45) and hey-presto everything fits and seals perfectly. Hurrah!
