Having purchased a single channel Hive heating control, hub, receiver & wireless Thermostat
unfortunately no fitting/ wiring instructions, the old timer control box was a Horstmann Centaurplus C27 connected to our gas fired condensing Combi boiler Worcester model 30i
First question is how close or how far away from the boiler can the Hive receiver be fitted as our present controller is in the bungalow hall & the boiler is in the loft as the back plate is identical to the one fitted to the Hive receiver, on the old control panel back plate there are only 4 wires but according to the hive receiver wiring diagram it now shows only one terminal not being used
The terminals which are in use is N , L, Earth, 3,
The new black plate is showing
N permanent neutral
L permanent Live ( these 2 same as old back plate
1 Common (Blue from boiler ) where on the boiler is this taken from)
2 Heating off (NC) again where is this coming from & is NC WIRING COLOUR CODE
3 Heating on (NO) my wire is yellow as it is fitted to no 3 in old back plate
4 not used
Earth tether for old earth wire am I correct
Really only problem is the wires for no 1 & 2 terminals & siting the receiver
Am I right in thinking that wireless thermostat connects to the WiFi as it mentions in the fitting instructions amber light flashing on receiver pressing boiler button & then 2 solid green lights come
The thermostat receives room temp
I am fairly competent with wiring but it is just the 2 wires mentioned that I am not sure about any help would be appreciated thankyou vey much in advance for the answers that I am looking for.

Hi NB,

I don't know the rules regarding posting links to other sites but I googled "Worcester 30i hive connection" and on the 1st link there is someone asking the same question as yourself which appears to have been answered by poster "chrrris"

First of all wire colours mean absolutely nothing on a heating system , they can be any colour, you mention a wire in T 2 on the hive , if you have a wire in there it shouldnt be there, you only need L&N and 1&3 on the hive receiver nothing else, if there was an existing earth just thether it at the point provided in the hive receiver, as for positioning Hive state 300mm from boiler, but very seldom see this they are usually next to the boiler if single channel

Thanks for your reply regarding my question about wiring a hive receiver for my heating system, it was the wiring diagram that hive supplied online showed a connection in 1 & 2 but you say no 2should not have a wire which is fine but that still leaves no 1 which hive are calling common & comming from the boiler but where do I find a terminal on the boiler to bring it from, but now that you have told me where my receiver can be situated, maybe I will google Worcester 30i hive connection thanks again

The centaurplus c27 is a dual channel programmer - are you sure you have a combi? Have you removed the centaur yet? You may have a link inside.

I know that it is for some reason that is the controller fitted by a previous owner, for if i press the CH button the central heating comes on & if I press the HW button the central heating comes also which ever button is pressed I get central heating & hot water. I definitely do not have a hot water tank, the Manual which was left by the previous owner describes the boiler as Combi. Yes I have taken the cover off & the back plate has only 4 wires were as the dual system has a lot more.

Then, as per Ian, L, N, Common (1) (link from live), and switched (3). Receiver does all the switching, so in place of centaur will be fine.

Good day to all who took the time to reply to mr post, having been able to find the exact wiring diagram
showing the hive received to the exact same boiler system as I have so spent this morning getting the receiver installed beside the boiler all lights lit up correct device paired up with the hub & ran the heating system for about 30minutes after setting the hive thermostat to target temperature & the schedules for the full week set, at the present time I have not installed hive radiator valves but I have Thermostatic valves fitted to the radiators so I will run the central heating for a while before deciding what rooms would benefit from the hive valves,
