All my family are professionals and no relatives that are not professionals. So no direct family or removed.
And presumably your parents never divorced..you grew up basically wanting for nothing...You never new what hunger or not feeling loved etc...so not exactly expert on it...

Not being able to provide 5 meals for 1 child for £30 is being bad with money. End of

The uplift given to poor parents which is used for shopping means they can use the other income for saving up to get a laptop or some sports equipment, fix the car etc.

In an ideal word...but reality is nothing like that

Is that your upbringing?

You don't need to be a murderer to be an expert on murderers. It's more nuanced than that.

Agreed...but it definetly gives much deeper understanding if you lived it ..witnessed it...Every day for years.Yes my parents divorced when I was 12...Happiest day of my life the day we left him...An end to witnessing his abuse...I had free school meals always...But mum always worked full time...Never had a day hungry or unloved or deprived...never had a car though..hired a car to holiday. Mum bought me loads of books.telescope..microscope...wanted better for us ..lived in a 60s prefab flat..but just got on with it...Happy...Didnt know any other.

If you can’t afford a laptop ,don’t have a laptop,(although they are all asking for free laptops aswell)if you can’t afford sports equipment don’t have sports equipment, ( you don’t need sports equipment to get/keep fit)if you can’t afford to fix a Car,don’t have a car,(no dought the government will now need to give all these people a free car now) at what point would it stop also none of which I may add are a necessity in life. They are all a luxury.

Look. I don't think we are too far off in our views. let me explain.

I am not for expanding benefits ad infinitum, however I think they should not be used as a form of punishment. There are some people who just want to live off benefits but we should focus on the vast majority who just need some help to get back on their feet. Those that are making a lifestyle out of it, we need different interventions other than just trying to cut benefits to the point that they punish even those who are trying to get out of their predicament.

Did you buy your home in cash?

For clarity DP, is it your position that if parents can't or won't feed their children, they should go hungry? Yay or Nay?

My position is that the children of people who won't feed them should be taken away from them and given to someone who will.

That might stop some of the benefit breeding.

Who are the people you will give the kids to?

Fostering costs hundreds per child per week.

You really thought that one out.

So what? At least the money from tax payers would be spent on the children rather than feckless parents who don't deserve children.

I would rather pay foster parents 'hundreds per child per week' than risk any child being neglected to the point of starvation.
