Are they essential workers?????
I can understand them working on high streets or ticketing cars causing an obstruction but on a quiet residential st with ample spaces available????? ******s.

Then you should have parked in one of those ample spaces.
What possessed you to park somewhere that you might be liable for a ticket when there were ample spaces available?

Could it be that there were ample spaces because of the Parking Wardens deterring people from parking.

Without them the council would lose a good chunk of their budget.
Not their fault.
It's the system that is designed against the motorists who are milked to the bones at every opportunity.

Bob. When I say ample spaces, they were all permit bays. (No pay bays around). So wasn’t preventing a resident from parking close to home.
Doh.....
The question was..... is it essential.
In the 1st lockdown, they weren’t issuing tickets. What’s the difference?

check the sign, the paint, check the rules and appeal if the ticket isn't valid.

If they're restricted then they're not available.

Your two points in your OP had equal emphasis.

What you could have said, is that you got a ticket but there was nowhere else to park.

Well I’m just gutted I let them get me.
Essential workers my arse.

Working in London as you do it amazes me you could go a couple of years without a ticket. Westminster council collared me about 4 times in 5 years. Most of the time I had a daily permit to park in resident spaces but if going there just to look at something, very few parking meters, even fewer pay and display.
