Chimney flashing-sealant or repoint

Noticed the flashing on my chimney has no mortar in the joint...



Is it acceptable to use lead sheet sealant instead of repointing in this area?

I'd put an adequate front apron in while you have access it doesn't extend past the tiles by 150.
Water will just run off the step/cover flashing into the roof space from what I can see mate.

Not sure which bit are you referring to? The corner on the left hand side of the flashing where the two sections of lead don't quite overlap fully?

Not had any problems since I've been here but will correct it if it needs doing to future proof it.

Ok to use lead sealant then?

As Barthy rightly says apron is too short on the left. Probably the underlay is keeping things dryish.

That's the part im on about I normally extend past the chimney (not tiles my mistake) 150mm and weld the front apron.
It looks in line therefore anything that runs off the soakers, assuming there is any, will run behind the front apron.
