Boiler packed up 3 days ago so no CH or HW. No lights flashing on the front which would be expected if the unit was working or had a fault. Pressure okay. Plug light indicated power to the boiler. Can't find anything which tells me what the problem might be when no front lights showing. Can't afford an engineer anyone any ideas what the problem might be please?

6.5 INDICATOR NEONS
When neon A (red) and neon B (yellow) are illuminated, the following conditions apply:-
Neon B Flashing very slowly (every 5 seconds) - Electricity supply to the boiler is on.
B Illuminated continuously - Indicates the burner is alight.
B Flashing on and off - Temperature sensor fault.
A Flashing on and off - Overheat thermostat has operated. Rotate selector switch to the reset position (3) to reset.
A Illuminated continuously - Burner has failed to light. Rotate the selector switch to the reset position (3) and the ignition sequence will restart after a delay of about 30 seconds.
A and B Flashing on and off at the same time - Blocked flue or fan fault.
A and B Flashing on and off alternatively - System pressure is very low and re-pressurisation is required.
A Illuminated continuously and B flashing - Pump fault, restricted flow or DHW flow switch fault.
In view of that it seems likely no electrical supply.
Plug light indicated power to the boiler.
I have not seen many plugs with lights on them, so may be light on socket not plug, so could be as simple as a fuse blown, but step one does some thing else work from the socket. For fuse I would swap with a standard lamp, so double test, if standard lamp does not work after swap then seems is blown, and if boiler start to work then fuse, but a fuse normally only blows with a fault.

A neon can light with very little current, have seen them lit even with blown fuse, so turning power off/on always worth a try, both at socket and at fuse box or consumer unit.

But since it seems likely no electrical power then really does not need an engineer to sort that. But what have you got to test with?

It may be you have lost a neutral, but picture of the plug light may help.

The boiler has an internal fuse, turn the power off, drop the front panel and you will see a square plate where the mains cable goes in , the fuse is in there

Thank you both for replying. My mains tripped the same day the boiler stopped working but I wasn't sure it was at the same time. Although I mentioned a plug in my post it was in fact an appliance socket. I tested a new fuse before putting it the socket and the old one and both showed up as working. So there is power from the mains to the boiler. I am now looking at the fuse inside the boiler 2amp and have sent off for one. I should have realised that with no lights showing on the front it was an electrics problem but with the appliance socket light working I wasn't sure where to go next. Plumbase sells them for £3.12 which if this solves the problem will be a huge relief and saving for me. I will let you know when it arrives and I get if fitted. I really really appreciate the help and support I've received.

sometimes you get a lazy fuse but most times the fuse is blown to protect something, you would be better learing how to use a multimeter and trace where the fault is , look on the back of the square plate that you removed there are sometimes spare fuses taped on there
