A funny thing that...

Well in the UK anyway...

"a 'memorandum for public use' written in July 1918, that advised people to stay at home if they were sick and to avoid large gatherings, was buried by the government."

"There are national circumstances in which the major duty is to 'carry on', even when risk to health and life is involved."

"There was no centrally imposed lockdown to curb the spread of infection"

"Pubs mostly stayed open. The Football League and the FA Cup had been cancelled, but there was no effort to cancel other matches or limit crowds, with men's teams playing in regional competitions, and women's football, which attracted large crowds, continuing throughout the pandemic."

In your quote, you missed off this bit:

"many theatres, dance halls, cinemas and churches were closed, in some cases for months."

and

"Streets in some towns and cities were sprayed with disinfectant and some people wore anti-germ masks, as they went about their daily lives."

and

"In the United States, some states imposed quarantines on their citizens, with mixed results, while others tried to make the wearing of face masks compulsory. Cinemas, theatres and other places of entertainment were closed across the country."

School holidays is the perfect time for this, (distance learning/remote education setup) but the government decided against it
Instead the government wasted the Xmas holidays gearing up for teachers to do mass teaching of pupils, then closed the schools.

Clever bunch, aren't they? Many teachers, heads, caretakers etc had to work through the Christmas break to get schools ready, what a laugh!

All the more reason to get vaccinated when it becomes available. Unless we just accept the virus as we do with flu, there is not other way to beat it in the long term.
Other countries have eradicated the virus, until it was brought back in by visitors.
All the countries that have managed to keep the virus out have just deferred the problem till a later date unless they also go down the vaccine route or choose to shut themselves off from the world.
If all countries could have eradicated the virus, it would not travel.

No it isn't, and you know that...

People had to work to survive regardless of their health!

I supposed none of this happened? OK, not all UK, but it is well documented that most people battened down the hatches, stayed indoors and kept away from people (if you prefer that to "lockdown")

and of course ...

But then ....

But the human body adapts, albeit with a few victims along the way...

Up to 50,000,000 died due to the Spanish flu......."a few victims along the way"

Are you Sooey, are you Sooey, Are you Sooey in disguise, are you Sooooooeeeey in disguise.

plus, we are not immune to Spanish flu, we did not adapt.
Catch it now and it will still have a 5% chance (on average, higher if you are over 70, got chronic health conditions etc) of killing you!

I think the Spanish flu was famous for killing mainly the 20 to 40 year olds.

Other countries have minimised it for now, but there are very few that are covid free. But to keep it at such a low level they have to keep themselves locked away from the rest of the world.

I agree that if all countries eradicated it, the virus would disappear (unless it jumps to animals) but the reality is that that will never happen. How many other diseases have we managed to eradicate around the world? I think smallpox is the only one, and that has largely been eradicated by vaccine.

And how long did it take to eradicate Small Pox?
That's why I've been saying that I think it's false doctrine to place such reliance on the vaccine.
The other measures (lockdowns, social distancing, masks, etc) are more effective, quicker and more reliable than reliance on the vaccine.

Once herd immunity is achieved by vaccine, (if it does) how will it be kept at bay?
Track and trace, which has been abandoned?
Ridiculous entrance restrictions?

Care to tell us what the healthcare system was like back then?

Or the population level?

It was not like for like!

I quoted about the UK...

But then you yourself said that the 'lockdown' was 'self-imposed'...

And as you yourself have quoted, "as they went about their daily lives"...

So what was it?

An official national 'lockdown' comparative to today or not?
