Hi guys not posted in ages but I am finally getting close to finishing the roof structure on my two story extension and I am now thinking about tiling.

The house is rendered as will the extension. Am I right in thinking where the extension abuts the existing I don’t step the lead but create a continuous chase and then dress down over tiles.

I have four dorma’s that will also be rendered so it is the same or do I have to use stepped soakers ?

Flashing should be built into the wall, not the render.

For the dormers, the flashing should be behind or below the render base board, depending on the design detail.

Sorry Woody perhaps I didn’t explain it well. It’s a continuous chase rather then stepped ?

My dormer cheeks have marine ply then render. Do I use soakers ?

stepped leadwork is only for face brickwork -so for rendered blockwork the chase is straight.

So is that the same for the dorma but fixes to ply and then I render over ?

Stepped flashing is for all brick walls, no discrimination. But if you want a straight flashing, you still chase the wall, not the render. Fit a stop or bell cast bead above.

Perfect your dormer is almost the same as mine so that is really helpful. I don’t suppose you have a pic of how you did the lead valley ?

No, mate nothing I'm afraid.
