The Biased Broadcasting Cretins are digging their own grave.

I like a lot of what the BBC does but their news editors all seem to be card carrying Guardian readers because they not only target political figures on the right they also push false narratives about parties on the left.

Some of that sort of thing is just good telly and all news channels get up to it at times and also current affairs programs. Some people like aggressive interviewing. I think it's ok if people realise that is what it is.

Personally I feel the beeb is more balanced but politics is bound to look unbalanced because it will reflect the ones that are currently in power. If there is an election it will reflect all. Labour are fond of having arguments amongst themselves and that gets broadcasted. ;) Been a bit with the Tories of late as well - unusual but times are as well. Conflicting views - tricky as they can't comment so they just report. Gov does interfere with what they can report at times. Price Harry away in a war for instance. What else?

Conservative party supporters have gradually become more and more disgusted with Trump's antics and horrified to see the storming of the capital.
Trump has been a disgusting fat orange **** for most of his life. He has been lying to Americans since his first day in office.
It's good to see that Conservatives wait 4 years and the storming of The Capitol before they feign their disgust.(y)

surely you must understand how politics works,

politicians are very fickle folk, basically a bunch of arse lickers, they cosy up to whoever is in power, or what suits their own needs the most.

I have a problem with a company who gives you access to their products and services then demands payment whether you use them or not. The TVL collectors are very aggressive and break the law by looking through windows to see if you are watching TV.

The BBC should be subscription only, so that people like me who only watch a small amount of their output can pick and choose when they pay for it, not be forced to pay for a whole year.

For years they have been wasting tax payers' money with expenses.

I remember several BBC workers being interviewed and they explained that their superiors were asking them to make sure they submitted their expenses. They were told if they didn't, the money would dry up.

This attitude needs to stop. I'm sure it would if the BBC went subscription only. I believe the current situation of expenses abuse is down to the fact that for years they have been funded by viewers.

Good grief I can't even be bothered to quote that. Some can just about afford the license one way or another so all pay to keep the cost to them down.

Get real and think a bit more. Probably can't.

I disagree. The BBC should be an annual licence but its remit should be curtailed.

I do not want a private news broadcasters that will push whatever rubbish like Fox or newspapers that are all owned by Billionaires.

Just look at this headline. The way the Express frames this. How is voting for worker rights is spun into something negative - this is how they get people to vote against their interests. It will break society.

Same old Labour! Starmer's MPs vote to keep Brexit Britain shackled to EU employment laws

You mean like renting a house? Joining the AA? Taking out fire insurance?

My membership of the yacht club costs the same no matter how seldom I use it.

Like my overcoat.

Better value the more you watch.

Which parts of the remit should be curtailed?

Keep 1,2 - review 3-6 with most cuts around 3.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/governance/tools_we_use/public_purposes.html

  1. Sustaining citizenship and civil society
  2. Promoting education and learning
  3. Stimulating creativity and cultural excellence
  4. Representing the UK, its nations, regions and communities
  5. Bringing the UK to the world and the world to the UK
  6. In promoting its other purposes, helping to deliver to the public the benefit of emerging communications technologies and services and, in addition, taking a leading role in the switchover to digital television.

i am in agreement with paying the licence fee, however they need to produce better programming, there is an awful lot that is just absolute tosh these days (though the david attenborough stuff is spell binding)

they need to ensure wokism and bias (left or right) is weeded out. they should give pensioners their TV license back, i'm sure with a few tweaks to budgets this can be achieved.

All sounds reasonable to me if a bit vague

When did the BBC start subsidising pensions? not all pensioners are hard up

The BBC can pay me to do a review! lol.

News has to be free from influence in it's production and distribution. It is all too easy for the media to manipulate and manage what people uderstand about an issue. It's exactly why we need a national broadcaster that is beyond political influence.
