The Biased Broadcasting Cretins are digging their own grave.

The BBC can pay me to do a review! lol.

News has to be free from influence in it's production and distribution. It is all too easy for the media to manipulate and manage what people uderstand about an issue. It's exactly why we need a national broadcaster that is beyond political influence.
Agreed 100%, after living in a country where the state controlled all TV output its a must

You mean like renting a house? Joining the AA? Taking out fire insurance?

My membership of the yacht club costs the same no matter how seldom I use it.

Like my overcoat.

Better value the more you watch.
No. You know very well those are very poor examples.

In each of those cases, you request those services and agree to pay money in exchange for access or use of those things.

I used to work with guy who thought he should pay less tax because he was never ill

I'm not saying get rid of the BBC.

But it needs to change big time.

It needs to be independent in terms of views, not pushing this agenda or that.

It needs to be subs-based, not funded as it is now.

But they are absolutely terrified that if that were to happen, not enough would subscribe.

To be subs based - then its about content. This then assumes people know how to value news. Or will they just seek the news outlet that chimes in with their views. So you get opinionated News preaching to the converted.

News should not be exposed to a market mechanism. A society needs to have a basis of truths or facts.

So now if someone says well there are no Brexit costs - its a complete lie but if the news they chose to hear that from says that then they will believe that.

When did the BBC start subsidising pensions? not all pensioners are hard up

not all are hard up no, but also not all are flush.

and in the future when the government no longer have state pension, and we are reliant on our own "workplace" pension scheme the story is likely going to be very different. With the ever increasing costs of living and stagnant wages, i know i personally cannot afford to sacrifice my salary more than the minimum amount i must pay in, which means i will either have to work till i drop, or i get forced to retire through some form of illness and i be stuck at home forced to watch standard telly because i cant afford to watch anything else, and there will be an awful lot people in similar situation as myself.
