Hello,

I recently moved into a town house with a Scantronic 9000 series alarm fitted with the property. I have been activating/deactivating the alarm from the control panel keypad as normal and a few months in most buttons and numbers suddenly stop working when pressing on the keypad. The "power" light and "day" light remain on as normal and only buttons 1, 4 and 7 are working when pressed (as the beep noise sounds are heard when pressing). All buttons on the right hand side from 2, 5 and 8 are not working as when pressed no sounds can be heard. I am worried if the keypad starts working and the alarm is set, when returning to deactivate, the keypad stops working again and I will not be able to turn off the alarm.

Don't know much about house alarms and whether routine servicing and/or battery changes are required. If so, how is this done? The original manual that came with the alarm has a note at the back saying "1994 - new bell box/battery/routine service" - not sure if this was done or yet to be completed since.

Note the control panel keypad below:

Any help to resolve will be much appreciated.

Thanks

This is a late 1980s panel ....think it’s time for replacement as it’s had around 30 years ...you could remove the keypad ribbon and clean the tracks but to be fair it’s not done bad ...

Great control panel in it's day. Only problem was you needed engineer to change customer code.
No spare available any more, time to replace I think.

The manual is dated 1985 so guess it's had it time?! Although, is there a way to repair, if not how do I go about replacing this? Does the control panel only need replacing?

When you say the keypad ribbon, do you mean the face of the control panel keypad? If so would this trigger any alarms i.e. tamper, if removed?
