Garage floor painting/sealing/levelling

Hi all,

I'm looking to reduce the dust in my integral garage which is a concrete floor. Part of the garage is an extension, you can see the differential line in the picture. The floor is sloped to a drain outside the door, presumably to allow for run off of any vehicle? We won't be using the garage for any vehicle access as one won't fit anymore.

I've been looking at various options:

1) Level the floor either by new screed or timber joists. The joist option with some plywood/OSB flooring would probably be the easiest option. The one thing I'm unsure of is how you would deal with the level change from the outside space to the garage floor? Do you just have to deal with a step?
2) Retain the slope and use self levelling compound to smooth out and seal the floor prior to painting. This seems like a lot of work for something that won't give much benefit.
3) Use a PVA solution to seal the floor as is. This is obvously the simplest version and probably what I'll go with, particularly in the short term.

Does anyone have any advice at all?

use a stabiliser/sealer rather than PVA, then you can use floor paint to give a nice easy clean finish.

yep.

Get a small tub of Mapei prim grip. I put that in my mates garage a few fess ago. He just puts another coat on every Easter.

Just had a quick Google, presumably that would be instead of the concrete sealer? Is it a better option than the concrete sealer?

No concrete sealer would be better I’d say. But his floor was different colours and a mess so the primer hides all that.

Thanks. What would the primer hide? Presumably it wouldn't hide any of the bumps and lumps and just give a uniform colour?

Would that not achieve the same result as sealer and paint?
