Best Wired Smart Alarm

Hi,

We are currently renovation our property and wanted to install a wired alarm, preferably smart to allow for remote activation. We would most likely have 4 PIR's and one door connect.

I've spent hours searching the net but all articles these days are for wireless alarms which i don't want.

Someone has recommended the Risco lightsys but understand they are now charging an annual fee for the app. I'd rather avoid any subscriptions etc if possible.

Has anyone got any recommendations on the best alarm kit to meet my needs?

Also it doesn't have to link but can anyone recommend some decent security cameras (again wired) which will still record if the internet goes down and dont cost a fortune.

Texecom and Pyronix.
Pyronix for cctv integration with alarm.

annul subscriptions will become the norm.
Pyronix have been doing it for some time, Risco is relatively new and they aren't the only ones doing it.

If its a self install then your choices will be more limited, as to what you can get and what you cn integrate and how easy it is to integrate.

There is no cctv system that works without power as such, so if the power is cut something needs to supply power to the recorder DVR/NVR/HVR(hybrid).

There are various solutions to this none of them are free.

If you live in a n are that suffers from power cuts thenyou may have a rough idea how long typical one is and you can build in cover for such an event.

But cameras, recorder, network (router) will all need some sort of back up power supply.

Cameras and recorder to record images, router to access remotely.

I think you'll find that even where systems are currently free, it's likely you'll be tied to subscription going forward. Read the small print in the Texecom agreement.

The best you can do is pick something that will still work without cloud and have non-cloud versions of programming software supported going forwards.

Thanks for your advice. The Texecom Elite kit was one of the them I was looking at. As I understand it the app is currently free which ticks that box. I guess worst case scenario would be they start charging and if we opt not to use it the alarm will still work but we just won't be able to activate remotely. Having never had an alarm before I'm not sure how important that is mind. If there are no cloud base services being used then I presume there is no way they could charge?

Yes, you would still be able to use as a standalone system, but with no remote app or push notifications.

ive had texecom elite for around 2 years with smart com so you can access it remotely to arm disarm and receive notifications, (just need to be in wifi or 4g area)

i highly rate it and its easy to modify with expanders etc.

app is ok and works well for me.

wasn't aware the 4G smartcom was available yet, but it has been tested by some and due shortly.

I suspect you can probably buy a module that plugs in ethernet port of the current smart com and uses GPRS, the main benefit of a gprs capable smart com is you dont have to rely on a power supply for your router.
