I'm due to have the jab next week, but I have read (unofficial it seems) suggestions not to imbibe alcohol for two days before and seven days after the jab. Has anyone else heard this and can quote an official recommendation?

As a nation, we drink too much alcohol, so any chance the authorities have to try and reduce this consumption, they'll take.
That's my "opinion" anyway.

It's probably a bit like the old trope about not drinking "coz I'm on antibiotics".
IIRC, there are a handful of antibiotics on which you really can't drink alcohol, a few more where doing so "may" reduce their effectiveness, and the rest, no difference.
But I stand to be corrected

I'm not an heavy drinker, usually just a glass of wine with dinner, but I saw the rumours doing the rounds and wondered.

I've drunk alcohol most days, for over thirty years.
From time to time, I've been prescribed antibiotics.
I've got better every time, and not felt any more unwell than I did before.
I'm surely not alone in the above.

I don't usually go there in my car, because the bus stop is 100 yards from my door, runs every 15minutes and drops me at the next village outside the door of the medical centre. It's just not worth the effort of getting the car out of the garage and through the gates, compared to the ease of jumping on the bus.
