Lead acid I know, NiCad and NiFe not too bad with but NiMh not really any idea. Marked yx-ni-mh-017144-tn SC1700 mAh I have looked for replacement C cells with solder tags and the cost is more than the robot vacuum cleaner they power. 12 cells and tested each half and same voltage so not one cell failed I had assumed 12 volt, but more like 16 volt 10 cells would be 12 volt.
Two vileda robot cleaners both the batteries will start the cleaner but then cleaner cuts out, assume designed to cut out if battery voltage dips below a critical voltage, both batteries will power a 12 volt lamp for a long time, both have been left unused for a long time and worked OK when we stopped using the cleaners, but after the move to new house and being left for couple of years not used, fail to run cleaners for more than 3 minutes.
We lost the chargers that's why not used, found one charger now, but seems batteries have got chemical memory like old NiCad and the volts drop too quick.
Discharging and recharging did seem to help, but still 3 minutes really want 20 minutes at least.
It says charge 24 volt at 1 amp on cleaner. So are they likely to revive if charged and discharged? Used 6 watt 12 volt bulb to discharge up to now.
Any ideas?
