Swapping out a DHW heat exchanger

Ok so I have isolated the feed to the boiler (used a valve on the inlet pipe as the brass valve on the boiler was pretty chewed up)opened up the hot taps and they have drained. I am now draining the right hand pipe ( pipe 5) roughly how much water should be draining out ?? I seem to have had about 10L and now i can hear the water gurgling through the boiler.

Assuming that you have not closed the boiler isolation valves (and you shouldn’t close them, as Iain says they will leak) then you are draining both the boiler and all of the CH pipework and radiators that are above it. Just keep going.

A huge thank you for all your help

All back together now. There dont appear to any leaks and the shower worked with no temperature fluctuation.
All I need to do is wait to see if the pressure drops overnight.
It was a real fiddly job and without you guys I couldn't have done it.

You might get a bit of a pressure drop as the pump moves any air round, nothing to worry about it will settle
