Garage conversion and build over !

So I have spent the weekend block laying and I am now up to wall plate height on both sides with just the gable end to build up.

Unfortunately I have found my first significant error which will need rectifying. I have got my measurements wrong and the window is too far to the left. I think I am going to have to cut the block work to bring it back to where it should be and close the left side up a little. Alternatively I could make the opening bigger but the two back windows would then be a different size.

Its getting there and I am starting to think about the roof but that is definitely going to take me out of my comfort zone.

Was this project ever finished....be good to see if it was

So updating this thread has been slower than the build it’s self. An injured wife, crap weather and real jobs getting in the way slowed my build right down. I found building the roof and especially the dormer windows very testing but I am now at felt and batten stage and I am rejuvenated The only you help we have had so far is lifting of the steels but to finish this before I die I may need to enlist some help !

Do you mean which size windows ?

The size of the actual dormer itself, I've been drawing some plans for an extension which will have 2 pitched dormer windows but it's difficult on a scale drawing to get a feeling of the right size and I can't really judge by eye those I see on other houses

Ah ok I pretty much when by eye and the levels of existing windows. These were challenging to say the least. Getting the angle right on the valley and Jack rafters was the stuff of nightmares.
