Hi guys,

I have a Scantronic 9448+ and want to replace the sensors - not because there are any faults, but because the what was once white plastic shells of the current ones have deteriorated over time and the plastic has turned yellow. They now stick out like a sore thumb against my white walls. My question is, are there any generic sensors that are a direct replacement for these or do I need a specific make / model?

The current sensors run from a 6 core cable - Red (guessing 12v +'ive), Black (-'ive), yellow, green (i'm guessing these are the sensor) and white and blue (Tamper)

Thanks in advance!

Most sensors will fit, if you have a picture might be able to give you a like for like option. If all six cables are used then it's double pole wiring, is normally closed alarm pair and normally closed tamper pair.

So long as they aren't grade 3 (anti mask) they should be suitable.

conservatory or garage use a DT.

Sensors like Capture P15/Q20/D20 are decent and have 10 year warranty
Also the above can use pet wise option or normal sensor option. Although they look different and look better on the wall than first look out of the box.

Many sensors will discolour overtime, some clean with toothpaste but it's a lot of effort

Not a fan of pet wise, any brand, but these have the option which helps me out no end, as I choose not to install pet wise sensors unless customer insists.

But there are loads of sensors out there from Bosch, Optex, Pyronix, Honeywell etc etc etc

Thanks for your response.

This is the current sensor - in the photo.

I do not have any pets (exept the gold fish!) so not too worried about pet friendly sensors!

You could go for optex saver or rx40 ...but they are not white ....this has been an issue with the current trend of Matt white walls ....the pyronix MEQ blue is the most white pir I know of ...other pirs available ...I believe the Honeywell pirs are more white , but not happy with the current Honeywell quality ..

Those Pyronix you mention look nice after a quick google of them - believe me, anything will be better than the current ones! Although no smokers in our house, think nicotine stained colour in appearance!

without having units side by side and that have aged hard to say which is the whitest.

I’d recommend Pyronix KX15DQ. Only downside is the ultra bright blue LED.
