Changing the pump using 178983, I believe this is Grundfos (black label). The old one I believe is Wila (white label) and had known problems. Straight away I noticed the bolt size to the casing is different, so I haven't attempted to change the "head" only. I've changed the whole casing for the new one.

Only problem is I seem to have a small leak from the small pipe going to the expansion vessel (see screengrab). This also has the pressure sensor for the analogue pressure gauge. The plastic pressure sensor holder does not want to seal into the casing, I used a new o ring from the kit. Maybe that's the problem. I was just wondering if the casings are somehow different in this regard. Different diameter inlet for the plastic pressure sensor housing?

I suppose I'll get it all off again and have a look.
Thanks in advance for any help

Are you Gas Safe Registered? That isn't a diy job on that particular boiler.

The case on the boiler is sealed to prevent any products of combustion from entering the room. It needs to be checked/tested when refitting as it could be dangerous if not done properly.

Why are you trying to fit a Wilo instead of a Grundfoss ?
I don’t think they are mate, I think they’re just confusing the post by quoting both makes of pump. 178983 is the Grundfos replacement for the original Wilo silver faced pump.

Op needs to realise that the case seal needs testing to ensure it’s sealed correctly, by a gas safe registered engineer.

I think I clearly stated that the Wilo was the old one. The relevance being - I thought there might be a slightly different fitting to the expansion tank. All sorted now thanks and onto other issues which I won't trouble you with. The boiler will be serviced and the plumber will do all the checks.

I'm not convinced I've seen him or any other plumber doing any tests on the seal when they put the cover back on but there you go. I'm sure they do it every time.
