Euro lock cylinder stuck in door and key stuck in lock

Can you get the key out? If you can, the standard way of snapping a euro lock, assuming its not snap proof, is to whack a thin bladed screwdriver into the keyhole and give the screwdriver a hard tug sideways. (don't tell anyone)

Yeah, if it's well and truly stuck with no means for you to remove it, locksmith might be your only solution now. Unless you wanted to use the cost of that to try buying a suitable drill, however you might go to that expense and still not manage, in which case you've then still got to get a locksmith over and above.

Open drill box very carefully. If efforts fail, carefully re-pack and return to Screwfix/B&Q/Homebase within 30 days :)

Drilling it probably won't work to be honest , as they were anti drill before anti snap. you will more than likely snap drill bits trying to drill it out
 
Jeez! How the hell would a locksmith get the lock out then if it can't be bent or drilled? I'm considering just smashing it to peices with a hammer in a rage o_O

Sorry that won't work and will damage door. And will still need to get in lock smith

Locksmith uses better drill bits, know how to keep drill bit cool, and exactly where to drill.

Sorry but might be cheapest to get them in.

RESOLVED: I returned the retaining screw back into the lock to stabilise it and took handles off. Then used a reasonably heavy metal mallet and put some cardboard up against the door to protect the plastic. The lock came off quite easily cos you don't need to strike very hard with a mallet to get a heavy impact. Minimal cosmetic damage to the door, can't really see it.

Also the new lock is anti drill snap etc and it is tucked into the door frame and isn't strikable from the outside. So a warning, don't leave any non snap-safe lock sticking out from your door.

Is there a dead man on the locking system that only allows opperation when the door sash is shut? looks like that on picture 4 ?
 
Just had exactly the same experience with a Yale 1 star in my rear patio doors. Fortunately I was able to unlock the other door then pull them both open just enough to remove the retaining built from the new Yale 1 star. Thought I was doing the correct thing buy installing such a secure lock. But will have to think again. There something wrong with these locks?
