My Grundos Alpha2 pump seems to have developed a fault recently. A couple of times a week, when the heating comes on, the pump doesn't get going. The light display just flickers extremely quickly.

The only way I've been able to workaround the problem is by turning the entire heating system off at the main switch, and then back on again. Any idea what could be causing this fault and how to fix it? I've consulted the manual and there doesn't seem to be a fault listed for the light display I'm seeing.

The pump is at least 6 years old, which was when we moved into the house. But I'm guessing more like 10+ years.

Another question on this - I replaced the pump this morning after limping along with the old one for a few weeks. Put a new Grundfos UPS3 in. All seemed to be OK, heating working fine.

However, then an E9 fault code appeared on our Worcester boiler. Apparently, this means the boiler was over heating? The pump was on setting III - would this cause the boiler to overheat?

I've now changed the pump to setting I but now nothing is happening at all.

When I say nothing is happening - the valve is open, the thermostat is calling for heat but the boiler isn't firing up.

The temperature on the boiler display though is 70, which seems unusually high.

Are you sure the pump valves opened properly when you turned them back on?

Oh god, just realised I installed the pump the wrong way round! Was flowing back to the boiler

I would quite like to delete this thread due to embarrassment but I'll leave it here in case it helps anyone in the future!

Thanks for your response
