Felt support under fascia, is it a must?

Hi all, I plan to cap fascia over existing wood fascia thats 40 year old. Wood generally in vgc apart from endings. Should I attempt to push a felt support system under the felt?
Cut out some rot before I put up uPVC over the top and treat the rot at either end of the 4 MTR fascia. The board beneath felt maybe suspect (Asbestos).

Most definitely. Rather than shove the trays up, if the bottom row of tiles aren’t nailed you can slide them up to make it easier to get the trays under the existing felt.

Thanks am looking at the tray system. think last row is indeed loose, not nailed.

Job doi, before and after pics below. Found a good supplier: eurocell. 225mm 5 metre cap board under twenty quid compared with b and q wanting £50. Also underfelt support 3 lots for £4 total. But I know you I may get some stick, I didn't use them. I don't believe I have pooling issue at the end of the felt. Would have been good to do but there was a metal based system ridge nailed to top of wooden fascia, very difficult to remove and reinstall. Overall happy with the job. Treated both wooden ends with dry rot hardener and painted along top of wood fascia beforehand. White capped 60mm nails are great fittings and nice finish.
