Hello,

Does anyone know the difference between the 153 and the 153A record floor clamps / cramps?

Thanks

Very funny.....does this signify any material difference in the design, or correct any defect I was more interested in

In view of the fact that these have been made by C & J Hampton, Record, Irwin-Marples and I don't know how many copyists since WWII, and that before Hamptons made them they had been made for probably at least 30 years (they appear to have come about before 1900) I sincerely doubt that any recently discovered flaw exists. But I could be wrong. At the end if the day they clamp onto a joist and push a floorboard tight. You may well find other versions made by Faithfull, Marples (the original Marples firm), Woden, Rededa, Parkinson, Preston, Mathieson, etc which are all of a similar ilk

What like a firmware update do you mean? Nah just your everyday clamp it and use it. I would have thought, given the period they have been around they would have been well stress tested. :)

No I meant what is the difference between the two physically, not that one has an a on the end and the other doesn't.

Why on earth does it matter? They clip joists and push boards. The way Record worked if one was markedly different to the other it would have had a different number...

..probably
