Hi all

I know nothing about gardening or tree types but was wondering if anybody could give suggestions as to how I could block view of a vehicle that’s parked on a private road, that sadly is behind my garden fence and in view

I have decking at the back and would be happy to lose a few planks to grow anything that’s tall and does not stick out much

would appreciate options for privacy and blocking vehicle!

trellis won’t work or look good I feel

thank you!

The problem with using trees is that you either put in something fast growing, in which case you'll be cutting it a few times a year on both sides, or you put in something slow growing, and wait years for it to block out the van.

If it were me, I'd put in trellis and a clematis armandii (and maybe a seagull rambling rose), with possibly some temporary bamboo screening until the clematis really gets going

(Or creep out at night and paint a tree on the side of the van)

(Or creep out every night for a year to gradually gradually reduce the ground level of the private road...)

Don't need to bother with a trellis. 5 slim scaffolding poles, (or similar), to the right height at the ends of each panel. Install a raised flower bed. Plant some Mile a Minute Clematis and while waiting for it to grow, (or when it's grown to the top of the fence), string some fencing wire between the scaffie poles and train the clematis to grow along and up it. Once it has took hold you can pretty much leave it to do it's own thing with just the occasional trim or training to go in the direction you want.

Put lots of bird feeders at the end of your garden, preferably ones the gulls and pigeons can get onto. Make these visible - on top of the fence.

Once you have a flock of regular birds, in the spring start putting scraps/bread/etc on the roof of the van each night. Birds will be up long before the van owner is, and all they’ll keep finding is their van covered in guano...and they’ll decide to keep it elsewhere :D

Cupresus Sempervirens are perfect for privacy, very dense foliage and evergreen.
