re-wiring a UK light ballast yz-254eea t5e

Hi there guys I'm a newbie on here!
I have worked on electrics myself since the age of 16 and I know enough to work alone safely.
I have however come across something new, I have a very smart kitchen light which the ballast failed on today. the only way to remove the old ballast was to snip the wires off. I couldn't get them out, I tried pressing & lifting the plastic tab but couldn't remove them.
Do I need to attach new brass ferrules on the cable to re-fit the new ballast or will the tabs grip the cable itself? The cable is stranded not solid core.
I appreciate any help as there is nowt out in the net, only American, pre-wired ballasts we don't get over here in the UK. Why not I don't understand.

This type of terminal should really only be used with solid core cable so I'd advise fitting the correct size ferrules

Ferrules will likely be too big, ballasts are usually designed for solid cables, but the type in your photo will also grip stranded cable, push down the little sguare tab to open the hole, slip in the cable and release tab.
If they dont grip then you may need to tin the wires, but not usually needed with that type ballast.
That ballast is for 2 lamps are you sure thats what you need.

On a side note, it appears it's an instant start ballast and not a very good one either. I hope you didn't pay too much to replace the old ballast like for like when you didn't need to and I hope the light isn't switched regularly else you're going to be replacing tubes regularly
