About to buy a house and the vendors have removed a camera which has smashed around a third of the brick. Its very noticeable.

Is this hard or costly to repair? Or a fairly simple job?

Simple job, difficult is matching the brick and mortar colour. Often better to hide it - alarm box, new camera or outside light.

Thanks.

Would turning the brick work or is that not recommended?

Do you have the bits?
I have done something when a brick was damaged and used epoxy to shove it back in, found a similar coloured brick piece and drilled into it to produce a pile of the correct coloured dust.

As suggested, it's often easier to hide the damage rather than repair. What about a Bird box?

On my house, the bricks are supposed to only shown with the rougher surface on the outside so don't know if this is the same for the bricks on your house.

You could ask your neighbours (those with the same house style) what type of bricks they are or try a builders merchant?

And I would definitely fill the hole with appropriate mortar if you're going to cover it with a bird box or similar. I know that you can colour mortar but my understanding is its not a great solution, others will know more.
