Caulk question

Hi. I have used some caulk to cover/fix some imperfections in a light blown vinyl wallpaper. Kids knocking/scuffs etc on stairs..I have recoated with emulsion but I can see patches where I have caulked. Maybe I should’ve just used filler...do i need to keep covering with paint or will it need some form of base coat to hide it ? (I understand this isn’t the purpose of caulk by the way ) it was just to hand, flexible and I assumed would overpaint no issue. Thanks Rich

Can you see it face-on, or more when you look across it? Did you paint the patch or paint the whole wall?

Could be the new paint is 'cleaner' than the rest, also the texture of the caulk is different which can make the colour look different. Any kind of paint 'touch in' tends to be visible when you look across it, I've got a few patches around refitted wall sockets which annoy me when the sun catches them.

You can see them face on, all over the place I did paint the whole wall out so no concern with colour matching old/new paint. I read a thread elsewhere that sometimes the make up of the caulk can make it kind of bleed thru and appear darker. Someone has suggested zinnser bullseye 123 on another forum..any thoughts on that ? Prime it all then emulsion again ?? Cheers

123 should work but I've never used it over caulk myself. Hopefully there's another forum user out there who has.
