Hello - bit stumped with something.

Got a new place last week and had the vinyl in the bathroom replaced yesterday. Found out this morning (the hard way) that the toilet has not been screwed to the floor. Carpenter came back to look and said they definitely unscrew anything and that it looked like the last owner had some wood wedged to hold the toilet in place - this may explain why there is also a slab of wood directly behind the tank on the wall for it to rest back on. Is this something I can do myself, or would I need a professional incase of pipes underneath etc? Any advice would be appreciated.

Screws down in to floor or through the side of the pan horizontally?

Had it once where pipes including gas ran under the toilet. What type of floor (floorboards or concrete)?

Hello Ollie

The safest thing would be to find a decent Plumber...

If the say stick it down then that's not a decent Plumber.

Thanks all. No underfloor heating there, so yeah the main concern would be pipes. Have done a temporary fix by sticking a thing bit of MDF under the toilet, but the waste pipe kicks up a stale stink every time the toilet moves so think I'll go for getting a plumber in even just to check the original install was ok....
