Hello forum,
This is an odd one I'll admit.

I have noticed a loud noise coming from somewhere (in the wall) in our bathroom. It's very odd and I'm out of ideas on what to try next.

First off it's reliably repeating around every 2m 11s (two loud cracks approx 12s apart). It's loudest near the window in the bathroom. Here's what I've done so far:
a) Turned off the mains power - it still happens
b) Turned off the boiler & gas - still happens.
c) Turned off the water - still happens.
d) Checked the loft above the bathroom - nothing obvious and can hardly be heard.
e) Check the gas meter (on outside wall near bathroom) - silence.

Checked the outside of the house for anything flapping/loose - nothing (I wouldn't expect anything like that to be so periodic anyhow)

I am stumped and the noise persists. Can anyone suggest a possible cause. I have a recording of the noise but haven't figured out how to add it to the post.

Many thanks,
DD

Good shout but I don't have any vents in the bathroom (unless they're hidden) - the only place I haven't checked is under the bath ??? They're unlikely to bang so periodically don't you think.

Have you tried turning off the water and draining the system down? As it is still under pressure when the water is turned off.

No extractor fan then? Must be damp?

Will that was odd, the noise stopped early evening and didn't come back. No idea what it was. Thanks for the ideas all the same.
